During the residency at Hosoo, Kyoto in July 2019 we worked on a new collection in collaboration with the craftsmen of the centuries-old exquisitely rich kimono artisan textile company. For this new work we created a series of textiles with hand drawn patterns, inspired by the Hosoo archive and organic curves and aesthetics seen in the architecture and surroundings of Kyoto. The upholstery fabrics our introducing new materials like hemp and play with the shimmering atmosphere of colored haku and silk where Hosoo is known for. The result of the residency is the collection of 4 upholstery fabrics named SINUOUS -Dashing, -Vigorous, -Vigorous Hemp and -Lively. The residency period was made possible by the cooperation of The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan.
